Balint Bolygo was born in Pécs, Hungary in 1976. He graduated at University of Edinburgh (MA in Fine Arts), United Kingdom in 2001. Bolygo is a member of International Kepes Society.
He lives and works in London, United Kingdom.

Bolygo’s work examines the similarity between the artistic and scientific mind. His work explores how both minds are motivated by the same need to discover/uncover, and turn the resulting ideas into beautiful totalities.

Bolygo’s creations examine artistic practice as a process of invention, science and engineering. The innovation of mechanical instruments gives rise to a function and an event that unlike with other machines, is not resolute. There is a kind of freedom in relying on the unknown and on the irrational. The various machines, compelled by unseen forces become autonomous and independently investigate the process of creation. The relationship between the cyclic and predictable nature of the machine and the unpredictability of the human touch conjures up both notions of random chaos and universal order. With the elimination of the artist’s touch, natural universal forces become the artwork’s creators and the em- phasis shifts towards the ‘act of creation’ as the object of beauty.
